Appointment of New Head of PRME: Dr. David Steingard

The PRME Secretariat is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Steingard as the new Head of Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). As an initiative of the UN Global Compact, PRME is embedded within its global business ecosystem, serving as the key channel through which business and management schools prepare future leaders for responsible and sustainable business.

As a long-standing leader within the PRME community, Dr. Steingard brings deep expertise in aligning responsible management education with business practice to advance the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and beyond. His career reflects a sustained commitment to positioning business education as a force for good, translating the Principles of PRME into meaningful action across research, partnerships, teaching, and practice.

With over 25 years at Saint Joseph’s University, Dr. Steingard served on the faculty of the Leadership, Ethics, and Organizational Sustainability programme and as the Director of the SDG Dashboard initiative at the Haub School of Business. He currently leads the AI and Research & Development (AIRD) Implementation Team under the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (UN HESI) as part of the Futures of Higher Education and Artificial Intelligence Action Group.

Dr. Steingard’s teaching and research emphasize ethical leadership and the transformative role of business education in advancing social justice, sustainability, and human rights. His recent thought leadership has focused on the use of artificial intelligence to assess social and environmental impact, including the development of innovative AI tools to measure SDG impact across institutions, research outputs, and academic journals. This work has strengthened the relevance and real-world impact of business research and has been published in AI & Society, Journal of Social Impact in Business Research, Business and Society Review, and Learned Publishing.

As the head of PRME, Dr. Steingard will guide the initiative’s strategic direction, lead the dedicated PRME Secretariat team, strengthen global partnerships, and continue serving PRME’s mission of advancing responsible management education. Reflecting on his appointment, Dr. Steingard shared, “PRME represents a powerful global community committed to reimagining the role of management education in service of people, planet, and prosperity. I am honored to step into this role. I look forward to strengthening collaboration across the PRME ecosystem to deepen impact as a United Nations supported initiative. Working closely with PRME business schools and UN Global Compact companies, we will continue advancing the values at the heart of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
