PRME Chapter India

The PRME community in Asia has seen already many PRME Regional Fora held over the past six years, namely:

  • the 1st PRME Regional Forum Asia at Kyung Hee University in South Korea, in 2010;
  • the 2nd PRME Regional Forum Asia at Tsinghua University in China, in 2011;
  • the 3rd PRME Regional Forum Asia at Keio University in Japan, in 2012;
  • the 4th PRME Regional Forum Asia at Ramon V. Rosario College of Business at De La Salle University, The Philippines in 2013;
  • the 5th PRME Regional Forum Asia that was held on 13-14 November 2014 at the University Utara Malaysia;
  • the 6th PRME Asia Forum at Goa Institute of Management in India in 2015;
  • and the 7th PRME Asia Forum at the Faculty of Business of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2016.
  • During the 6th PRME Asia Forum, hosted by Goa Institute of Management (GIM), Goa, India on 27-28 November 2015, it was decided that a PRME Chapter India would emerge, in order to strengthen the participation of signatories of PRME at the national level.
  • The 7th PRME Asia Forum was hosted by SPJIMR in December 2018.

2023 PRME Chapter India, City-Level Meetings

Northern Hub - New Delhi

Dr Chandrika Parmar, Director, DoCC, and PRME India chapter chair attended the PRME India North hub's 2023 Forum 2023 hosted by Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) at India International Centre. Director BIMTECH Professor Harivansh Chaturvedi, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Network - India, Ratnesh Jha were part of the opening panel which set the context of PRME and its importance for management education.

Dr Chandrika Parmar, spoke about PRME as a community of exemplars - individuals, institutions and communities which were addressing wicked problems we confront today. She spoke about the "rights of the future" and the role of collaboration and the need for knowledge panchayats in creating a knowledge base to address these issues. She emphasised the role of innovative pedagogies including experiential learning to make management education relevant and meaningful. Dr Parmar urged the community to seek out new talents across disciplines and schools and learn from them and other ongoing social experiments. The day saw deliberations and participation of Deans| Directors, faculty and students of management schools from NCR region. It also saw participation from members of corporate.

Jaipur

In July, a local media outlet, Yuva, published an article covering one of the 6 city-level meetings PRME Chapter India is across the country this year. Chair of PRME Chapter India, Dr. Chandrika Parmar, moderated the session on 24 July in Jaipur with more than 400 students present. She discussed the work of PRME and the importance of bringing sustainable development into the management pedagogy, referencing the Blueprint for SDG Integration as a helpful resource in doing so.
