Open Masterclass: How to Take Part in Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange programme that gives new or aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to learn from experienced entrepreneurs running small businesses in other participating countries. A stay lasts one to six months and can be split into blocks of whole weeks within twelve months. The programme is co-funded by the Single Market Programme (SMP COSME) of the European Union.

WHO CAN APPLY

You can apply as a new entrepreneur if you are firmly planning to start a business based on a viable business plan, or if you have less than three years of experience as an entrepreneur. Any sector qualifies. You must be over 18, and there is no upper age limit. You need to be a permanent resident of an EU Member State or of a non-EU country taking part through the Single Market Programme, such as Norway, Serbia, Türkiye or Ukraine. Permanent residence is where your company is registered or, without one, where you have spent at least 183 days of the last twelve months. Host entrepreneurs can be based in any of these countries, and also in Canada, Singapore, the United Kingdom or the United States. You can take part once. A monthly grant, set by the country of stay, contributes to travel and subsistence costs, and applying is free.

THE SESSION

Three of the programme's Intermediary Organisations explain how it works, present exchanges they have supported and take you through the application, with an open Q&A at the end.

  • How the programme works: Sandra Gil, Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg
  • Success stories from exchanges to and from Germany: Eva Gutbrod, Baden-Württemberg International (BW-i)
  • The applicant journey, from eligibility and registration to the business plan, the role of the Intermediary Organisation and matching, with examples from Spain: Gabriela Dumont, Fundación Equipo Humano (FEH)
  • Open Q&A with all three speakers

Moderator: Nikhil Reddy Gogu, Steering Committee, PRME Working Group on Responsible Work and Purposeful Careers

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Students and graduates of PRME signatory institutions who live in a participating country, and the staff who advise them.

The PRME Working Group on Responsible Work and Purposeful Careers organises this session with three Intermediary Organisations of Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs: the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, Baden-Württemberg International and Fundación Equipo Humano.
