Signatory Spotlight: Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria

Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, continues to advance responsible management education through immersive, action-based learning that connects leadership development and management competencies with real societal impact through its spirit of service to the community.

Through this year’s Senior Management Programme (SMP), participants in the 99th cohort engaged directly with complex development challenges across healthcare, environmental sustainability, infrastructure, and community systems. Rather than limiting learning to theoretical analysis, the programme requires participants to work in groups to design and implement practical interventions in collaboration with affected communities and institutional stakeholders. Recent participant-led initiatives addressed critical issues including urban waste management, emergency healthcare access, neonatal care, inclusive infrastructure, and dignified ageing.

One team developed Donor Bridge, an Emergency Blood Donor Matching Network designed to improve rapid access to blood donation services by connecting hospitals, blood banks, emergency responders, and verified donors within defined geographic areas. The initiative responded to systemic gaps in emergency healthcare coordination and demonstrated how technology and stakeholder collaboration can strengthen health outcomes.

Another intervention focused on tackling plastic waste management in Lagos communities. Working in partnership with GIVO Africa, participants implemented education campaigns, behavioural change initiatives, and impact measurement systems aimed at improving recycling participation and reducing environmental waste. The project generated measurable improvements in plastic recovery and community engagement while promoting more sustainable urban practices.

These initiatives reflect Lagos Business School’s broader educational philosophy—one that prioritises ethical leadership, systems thinking, stakeholder engagement, and practical problem-solving within African contexts. By integrating experiential learning with measurable social impact, the School equips leaders not only to understand complex challenges but also to design responsible, scalable, and context-relevant solutions.

One of the strongest lessons from this work is that responsible management education becomes most impactful when learning moves beyond the classroom into direct engagement with real societal challenges. Through community-based projects, stakeholder collaboration, and reflective learning, participants are able to apply classroom knowledge in practical settings while gaining deeper insight into the realities shaping the broader macro-environment.

Through programmes such as the Senior Management Programme (SMP), Lagos Business School continues to exemplify its commitment to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) by developing leaders capable of driving sustainable and socially responsive transformation across organisations and communities.
