PRME Chapters in Latin America and Brazil Gather to Advance Responsible Management Education

The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) community in South America recently came together for two important annual gatherings, highlighting the region’s commitment to responsible management education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These meetings offered academic leaders, business schools, and students a chance to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration across the region.

PRME Chapter LAC 14th Annual Meeting

From 5 - 6 November, 2025, the PRME Chapter Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) held its 14th Annual Meeting at Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia, under the theme “Conscious Leadership for a Sustainable Future.” The event brought together 72 representatives from countries all over the region to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in responsible management education. Participants engaged in sessions on leading in uncertainty, fostering regional collaboration, and building partnerships for sustainable development, creating a space for dialogue, learning, and shared experiences.

Innovation and student engagement were central to the meeting, with the PRME LAC Youth Leadership Challenge recognizing undergraduate and graduate students from across the region for their creative solutions advancing the SDGs. The Signatories’ Assembly also provided a space where participants could reflect on collective progress and identify opportunities to deepen collaboration across the region.

Attendees had the opportunity to present papers and case studies, sharing practical strategies and research aimed at advancing sustainability in higher education. The meeting concluded with the Consuelo García de la Torre Award, presented to two individuals whose leadership and initiatives have made a tangible impact on their institution and community.

Through events like this, PRME LAC continues to create meaningful spaces for dialogue and joint projects, supporting responsible management education in Latin America & the Caribbean.

PRME Chapter Brazil Annual Meeting

The PRME Chapter Brazil Annual Meeting, hosted by FIA Business School on 10 November, 2025 in São Paulo, welcomed PRME members as well as non-member institutions interested in engaging with PRME. The day began with a public convening where participants heard from PRME members and the PRME Secretariat on initiatives to deepen engagement in Brazil and around the world. Attendees left not just with answers, but with deeper connections and fresh perspectives to reflect on long after the event ended. Additionally, the Secretariat gained valuable insights to accessing and expanding PRME’s presence in Brazil, especially in the north.

Discussions highlighted the evolving higher education landscape in Brazil, including the growing diversity of student profiles, the need for experiential learning, and the importance of applying sustainability in practice. Participants explored ways to extend PRME’s reach beyond southern Brazil, leveraging opportunities from COP30 and international partnerships. Barriers to membership and accessibility specific to Brazilian schools navigating bureaucratic and financial challenges were also addressed, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and broader engagement.

The meeting wrapped up with reflections on Chapter priorities, upcoming elections for the Chapter Brazil steering committee and Chair, and potential collaboration opportunities with PRME LAC in Uruguay in 2026 and through CLADEA . These conversations underscored the Chapter’s dedication to civic engagement, sustainability, and responsible management education across Brazil.

Together, these gatherings highlighted the commitment and collaboration of PRME Chapters in Latin America and Brazil. The PRME Secretariat thanks Universidad EAFIT and FIA for hosting these important events and extends gratitude to all participants for their contributions in advancing responsible management education, promoting sustainability, and strengthening connections across the region.
