PRME Chapter Eurasia Holds Landmark Annual General Meeting in Almaty, Kazakhstan

PRME Chapter Eurasia held its 2026 Annual General Meeting on 28 May at Narxoz Business School in Almaty, Kazakhstan, bringing together university rectors, deans, business leaders, and representatives from the UN Global Compact and the Academy of Management (AOM) for a day of reflection, dialogue, and forward planning.

The event was opened by Dr. David Steingard, Head of PRME, whose address set a compelling vision for the future of responsible management education and the deepening of collaboration across the UN Global Compact ecosystem. Dr. Steingard's remarks resonated strongly with participants and provided an inspiring global frame for the discussions that followed.

The Opening and Welcome Session featured substantive contributions from Dr. Kanat Kozhakhmet, President of Narxoz University, and Dr. Gulnara Kurenkeyeva, Dean of Narxoz Business School, whose warm welcome reflected the university's deep commitment to responsible management education. Dr. Nejat Capar, Dean of Bang College of Business at KIMEP University, offered a compelling institutional perspective on the role of business schools in advancing sustainability. The session was brought to a memorable close by Dr. Assylbek Kozhakhmetov, Founder and President of AlmaU and visionary founder of PRME Chapter Eurasia, whose address inspired the room with a forward-looking reflection on the Chapter's mission and the transformative potential of responsible management education across the region.

The session on One Global Compact: Partnering for Impact brought together representatives from the UN Global Compact Central Asia Country Network, the Green Urban Association, and Qazaq National Parks, highlighting the growing bridge between academia and the broader sustainability ecosystem in the region.

The afternoon's standout moment was the Responsible Management Research Interactive Panel Discussion, organized in partnership with the Academy of Management Community Accelerator Program. Featuring editors of leading AOM journals and senior AOM representatives, the session proved to be the most engaging of the day - building a powerful bridge between the PRME Chapter Eurasia community and one of the world's foremost management research organizations.

The event additionally featured the launch of The Power of Arts-Based Pedagogies: Transforming Mindsets to Shape Our Future, a landmark new volume in the Routledge PRME Book Series. Bringing together 36 contributing authors from 17 countries across five continents, the book represents a significant contribution to responsible management education scholarship and was celebrated with a lively discussion involving its editors and contributing authors.

Participants joined both in person and online, representing universities from across Eurasia. The AGM was followed by the AOM CAP Silk Road Workshop, continuing the spirit of regional collaboration.

PRME Chapter Eurasia extends its sincere gratitude to Narxoz Business School for generously hosting this event, and to all speakers and participants who made this a landmark moment for responsible management education in Eurasia.
