Kimyo International University in Tashkent (KIUT)- is an international university focused on practice based on innovative education.

Kimyo International University in Tashkent (KIUT) is a private non-governmental higher education institution in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. It was established in 2018 as the Yeoju Technical Institute in Tashkent and later renamed Kimyo International University in Tashkent in 2022.[1] Times Higher Education describes KIUT as the first private university in Uzbekistan and states that it was created in 2018 through an agreement involving South Korean and Uzbek partners.[1] The university operates under a state licence issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is the legal successor of the Yeoju Technical Institute in Tashkent, which was regulated under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1007 of 17 December 2019.[2][3] History The institution was founded in 2018 as the Yeoju Technical Institute in Tashkent. According to Times Higher Education, the institute was established in partnership with South Korea's Yeoju University.[1] Uzdaily reported in 2018 that the institute delivered education in Uzbek, Russian and English, using curricula coordinated with Yeoju Technical Institute in South Korea and the relevant Uzbek higher education authorities.[4] The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan adopted Resolution No. 1007 on 17 December 2019 concerning additional measures for the organisation of the institute's activities.[3] The resolution referred to the preparation of specialists in areas including architecture, construction, alternative energy, tourism and business, as well as cooperation with foreign higher education institutions.[3] In 2022, the institute was rebranded Kimyo International University in Tashkent.[1] The university subsequently expanded outside Tashkent, opening branches in Namangan and Samarkand, according to university and higher education profile sources.[5][6] Academic profile KIUT is organised into five main academic schools: School of Engineering School of Business and Finance School of Education School of Arts School of Medicine According to the university, it offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in Uzbek, Russian and English.[5] Public higher education profiles also describe KIUT as offering bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes across several subject areas.[6] The university states that its academic portfolio includes approximately 38 undergraduate and 24 graduate programmes.[5] KIUT also reports joint and exchange-based educational programmes with foreign partner universities. Kun.uz has reported that KIUT offers study opportunities through formats such as 2+2, 3+1 and 1+3 joint or exchange programmes with overseas universities.[7] Campuses The main campus is located in Tashkent. The university also operates branches in Namangan and Samarkand.[6] The Namangan branch was opened in the 2021–2022 academic year, while the Samarkand branch was opened later, according to university-published information.[5] International cooperation Times Higher Education states that KIUT has relationships with more than 50 overseas universities around the world, one of them is Varna university of Management [8], which has cooperation for undergraduate 2+2 programs in Business management and Tourism, several in South Korea.[1] The university has also reported cooperation with international institutions in countries including South Korea and European states.[5] The university has participated in Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education projects. Its listed projects include EMPOWER, a project focused on women’s entrepreneurship and employability in Uzbekistan, and QUARTZ, a project focused on quality assurance systems in higher education.[9][10] Accreditation and recognition KIUT states that it operates under state licence No. 241191 issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.[2] The university also states that it has received accreditation certificates from international accreditation agencies including KAZSEE and IQAA.[5] QS TopUniversities reports that KIUT received international accreditation certificates from CAAAE former KAZSEE and IQAA in 2022 and was included in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education database.
