Apply for the 2024 - 2025 Champions Cycle by 5 December 2023

This year, PRME celebrates 10 years since the Champions Programme was launched in 2013 during the UN Global Compact’s Leaders Summit. The objective of this group has been to work collaboratively to develop and promote activities that address shared barriers for the PRME community and deliver value for businesses and society at large. Over the years, several institutions have participated in the group and developed different materials for the community, such as the SDG Integrations Repository, Climate Literacy Training for Business Schools, membership onboarding materials and more. The last few years have been especially important for the Champions Programme as they have served essential roles in piloting new PRME initiatives and serving as examples for other institutions.

After 10 years of learning from previous Champions cycles, the PRME Secretariat is excited to launch the 2024-2025 cycle. Aligned with the mission of the Champions and the strategic objectives of PRME, the focus of the Programme will be on:

  • Advancing the re-commitment to the upcoming refreshed Seven Principles of PRME;

  • Collaborating with the implementation and curation of PRME Commons - a space for accountability, exchanges and learning between members of the PRME community;

  • Engagement in Thematic Roundtables for generating ideas and institutional challenges within business schools as a way of supporting the PRME strategy; and

  • Aligning with the vision of the United Nations Global Compact in completing actions toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), halfway to the 2030 Agenda.

Participation in the Champions Programme generates opportunities to develop as an institution and raise its commitment to the Principles for Responsible Management Education to the next level. At the same time, the role of serving and supporting the development of our community is a key responsibility as a Champion for PRME.

The Mission of PRME Champions is to contribute to thought and action leadership on responsible management education in the context of the United Nations sustainable development agenda. In doing so, PRME Champions commit to:

  • Working collaboratively to transform management education in five key areas: curricula, research, educational frameworks, sustainability-based partnerships, and thought leadership.

  • Serving the broader PRME community through active engagement with existing PRME Chapters, PRME Working Groups, and other global opportunities.

  • Contributing to broader UN goals and issues, particularly helping to realize the SDGs.

Participation in the two-year PRME Champions Programme combines interactive workshops across four in-person or hybrid Champion meetings, online check-ins and some additional hours of online collaboration in between meetings. Each institution will be expected to take transformative action in key areas and new strategic plans for integrating the SDGs, and regularly provide updates on the projects and initiatives that they are engaged in.

In addition to engagement and commitment to the proposed initiatives, Champions are requested to make an additional financial contribution to PRME, demonstrating their tangible expression of support for our shared vision.

Transforming Teaching, Operations, and Collaboration: Insights into Geri Mason’s Champions Experience

Impact Stories Transforming Teaching, Operations, and Collaboration: Insights into Geri Mason’s Champions Experience
As a development economist working within a business school, Geri Mason’s pathway into PRME was both unconventional and deeply aligned with her academic purpose. Economists are still underrepresented in management education spaces, and development economics even more so. Yet Geri’s lifelong focus on poverty, sustainability, and human flourishing made PRME a natural fit, long before it became a formal framework at her institution. Geri joined Seattle Pacific University (SPU) in 2010, just after the university became a PRME Signatory in 2008. SPU
