Signatory Spotlight: Woxsen University, School of Business, India

Woxsen University School of Business Leads the Charge for Responsible Management Education in India

On 2 July 2025, Woxsen University School of Business, a PRME Signatory Member, convened the PRME Hyderabad Meeting 2.0, bringing together 73 participants from leading academic institutions, sustainability educators, and industry experts to advance Responsible Management Education (RME) in India. Led by Dr. Anindo Bhattacharjee, Assistant Dean of Sustainable Business Research and Associate Professor at Woxsen University School of Business, the virtual event served as a regional platform for dialogue on embedding the Principles of PRME into higher education, with a special focus on technology integration, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the internationalization of management education. Dr. Chandrika Parmar, PRME India Chapter Chair and Associate Professor at SPJIMR Mumbai, inaugurated the Meet with her address along with Dr. Uma Ananda, the Vice Chancellor of Woxsen University. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Omid Aschari, Senior Advisor of PRME, an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact.

The programme featured panel discussions, World Café sessions, and roundtable dialogues addressing practical challenges and opportunities RME. Key sessions included “Making Responsible Management Education Happen in the Age of Gen AI” and “Internationalization & Interdisciplinarity for Responsible Management Education,” with contributions from institutions in such as IIT Hyderabad, NALSAR Hyderabad, IPE Hyderabad, SPJIMR Mumbai, Amrita School of Business, NMIMS Mumbai, KJSOM Mumbai, FIIB Delhi and VJIM Hyderabad.

The event concluded with institutional reflections on living the Principles of PRME and recognition ceremonies, including the presentation of awards for sustainable leadership and digital inclusion initiatives. It provided multiple touchpoints for participants to share experiences, challenges, and success stories while building lasting collaborative relationships.

The Impact of PRME Hyderabad Meeting 2.0 Impact

Woxsen’s role as convener reflected a strong commitment to PRME’s mission of developing responsible leaders for sustainable futures. Embodying the PRME Principle Partnership, the university brought together Deans, Vice Deans, and senior faculty to align institutional strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fortify the RME network across India. By engaging both PRME Signatories and non-Signatories, Woxsen strengthened the PRME Chapter India network and fostered collaboration across India’s higher education landscape.

The event showcased the PRME Principle Teach by uniting the School of Business, School of Arts & Design, and AI Research Centre to explore cross-disciplinary solutions to sustainability challenges, embedding responsible management concepts across the university. In line with the PRME Principle Research, Woxsen spotlighted the role of generative AI in advancing sustainability, with discussions on integrating AI into curricula, improving decision-making, and ensuring technology serves long-term social and environmental goals.

Award recognitions, such as the “Change Maker Award in Sustainable Leadership” and “Digital Inclusion Accelerator Award,” highlighted best practices that bring the Principles of PRME to life. A notable highlight was presenting the “Change Maker Award” to Dr. Omid Aschari in recognition of his global contributions to sustainability and responsible leadership through the PRME movement. In his acceptance speech, Aschari commended Woxsen University for its initiatives and its role as a model institution among PRME Champions and Signatories.

Outcomes from the Hyderabad Meeting 2.0 included stronger institutional partnerships, concrete action plans for AI integration, and new joint initiatives within PRME Chapter India, such as a social outreach project between Woxsen and K J Somaiya Institute of Management. Through its inclusive approach, interdisciplinary engagement, and commitment to innovation, Woxsen University School of Business has provided a replicable model for advancing RME and translating the Principles into impact.
