Rollins College SUP 2018 - Department of Business and Department of Social Entrepreneurship - View Report

Period Covered: Aug 2016 to Aug 2018

In 2018, a new structure was formed for the Business Division in the College of the Liberal Arts. The Business Division now has two academic departments: Department of Business and Department of Social Entrepreneurship. The Department of Business houses Business Management and International Business majors; the Department of Social Entrepreneurship houses the Social Entrepreneurship major. The programs are very successful in attracting students.

Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

•The school offers an undergraduate Business Management major/minor and an undergraduate Social Entrepreneurship major/minor
•Both programs have been designed according to responsible leadership principles and integrate emphasis on social impact and environmental sustainability
•The social entrepreneurship curriculum includes community engagement components aligned to classwork, and the social entrepreneurship major is housed in one of the first independent social entrepreneurship academic departments in the world

Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

•Several faculty members regularly publish research on social entrepreneurship, social impact, responsible management and operations practices.
•The school has a Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hub which provides training and funding opportunities for faculty.
•Design thinking is fully integrated into the Social Entrepreneurship major, enabling students to practice real-world problem solving from a community-based perspective
