Al Akhawayn University is an English language, American styled, liberal arts college, the only of its kind in Morocco. Students actively engage in integrative thinking, study, and practice of "good" business including explicit attention to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Interdisciplinary approaches to learning are encouraged. Centers for leadership development and for ethics are featured in this report in addition to normal curricular objectives.
Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
We are entering a next phase of curriculum review to include integrate varieties of components of CSR and Sustainability in all business programs and across business and engineering programs. Last year we included two sustainability criteria into the student capstone competition for strategy development. Additionally we have included in the course report in all business courses portfolios a section on Ethics, CSR and Sustainability. Meaning that faculty must report on what they cover in their classes on the topics of ethics, CSR and sustainability. Our centers for leadership development and for ethics in business continue to focus student and community awareness on SDGs.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Increasing numbers of graduate students have chosen the topic of CSR and sustainability as their thesis topic. Several of our business faculty have joined multidisciplinary research and learning collaborations with engineering faculty in order to advance circular economy exploration. The Leadership Development Institute is preparing to host a global workshop for students with focus on community and environmental justice themes. And a university-wide requirement for students to engage in service learning rolls out in the coming year. On-going regional research collaboratives continue.
