Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Currently, GSEM UrFU is actively continuing integration of the sustainable development and social responsibility principles in all areas of its operations as an organization. In 2016, the University obtained the general ISO 9001:2008 certificate confirming management quality, and the work on IQNet SR 10 certification that would reiterate integration of social responsibility principles in UrFU operations is currently under way.
In partnership with GSEM’s experts, the University has identified priority stakeholders and outlined the concept of the University's social responsibility. This is a set of voluntary commitments jointly defined by the University and its stakeholders and mainly fulfilled at the expense of the University’s own funds, including those to implement social programs and projects aimed at the development of the University, to improve interaction with the public, businesses and government, and to support development of the region and the country. Currently, the University’s social responsibility management, in accordance with best practices, includes management and harmonisation of the interests of its internal and external partners, a sustainable development strategy, and a multistakeholder approach to achieving the University’s objectives. In line with global trends, GSEM is implementing a multidimensional strategy for mainstreaming the principles of a socially responsible organisation through training of students, faculty and administrative staff, influencing internal and external stakeholders, and involvement in the region's sustainable development. The tools include UrFU’s social responsibility policy, and the Ural Federal University's Code of Ethics; some CSR indicators as required by the GRI G4 standard are reflected in the University’s annual report. GSEM is actively developing partnerships with orphanages and charitable foundations, and involves students in the management of support projects. GSEM’s Business School is annually engaged in pro-bono practices as part of the Presidential Program. The University promotes social investments and impact investing in student projects through organizing dedicated schools for social entrepreneurs.
The School programs curricula include a course on CSR which builds on all projects in various spheres from the meaning of sustainable development to investment rules for responsible economists. There is a dedicated executive programme as well as Master programme on Economics of Sustainable Development. The annual autumn school on Sustainable Development of Business provides students with opportunities to learn about national and international companies and analyse them in terms of achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as formulated by the UN.

Practical output has been tailoured to intergrate the school's students and faculty in ecological and social projects, such as paper and waste management, diversity development through international clubs and cultures adaptation, cooperation with community stakeholders-helping orphanages, societal ecological and education projects.
