Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
IAE Montpellier places great importance on ethical, environmental and social responsible practices.
For the Institution, sustainable practices are becoming an important and integral part of its strategy. As a cross-disciplinary issue, IAE Montpellier intends to reinforce its CSR and sustainable development (SD) policies throughout the institution’s core activities and especially its three strategic pillars (international development, pedagogical innovation and continuous improvement).
In this sense IAE’s SD and CSR policy is structured around the following themes:
- Governance and Strategy: A large and inclusive governance board directs the decisions of the institutions, which are submitted to a vote before being enacted. In fall 2017, IAE Montpellier created a “Diversity, Equity and Disability” service. One IAE professor (Ms. Najoua Tahri) was appointed as coordinator for all issues related to disability, discrimination and ESR. This new role involves support and programming initiatives designed to remove barriers for students with disabilities.
- Education and Teaching: CSR and SD, and ethical issues in management are an integral part of every course content provided in the different programmes. Dedicated courses in SCR and SD are offered throughout the whole programme portfolio. IAE Faculty, administration staff and students are frequently and regularly involved in CSR and SD related projects.
- Social politics and local integration: IAE aims to improve its territorial embeddedness through the development of socially responsible actions. IAE has already organized several national conferences and events on topics such as work and disabilities, the circular economy and the social economy. IAE Montpellier is fully equipped to receive students and staff with any type of disability. All programmes are open to students with specific needs. IAE Montpellier, along with the University of Montpellier, places great importance on employee well-being. Employees benefit from a range of social services and workshops to improve the quality of their professional environment. Every employee is treated equally, and diversity is at the heart of the institution.
For the future, we are planning on reinforcing these axes, as well as developing the environmental management. IAE Montpellier intends to improve its environmental footprint by adopting environmental sustainable practices (for example, we have a partnership with the regional ecology fair). We are willing to do everything we can to create an environment enabling the learning of responsible management. We intend to create a code of ethics for responsible managers.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Prof. Anne Loubès is leading a transversal working group within the MRM Laboratory (Montpellier Research in Management) called “CSR and Sustainable Development”. In this framework, events are held throughout the year. For example, on the 15th of December 2017, a conference was held at IAE on “Le territoire, partie prenante de l’entreprise responsable” (The territory, a stakeholder for responsible companies).
Prof. Najoua Tahri conducts research in the field of human resources management and social responsibility. Her Ph.D. was related to Corporate Social Responsibility and organizational citizenship. This new role involves support and programming initiatives designed to remove barriers for students with disabilities.
To raise staff and student awareness of social responsibility issues, on the 9th of October 2017, IAE Montpellier held a conference dedicated exclusively to well-being at work. This conference was organized as part of the University fair on well-being at work and was animated by Prof. Anne Loubès and Prof. Nathalie Commeiras, (who leads the Human Resources Management research team within the MRM Laboratory).
Several PhD theses are conducted on this topic, one of which was defended this year under the supervision of an IAE core faculty professor.
For the years to come, our goal is to strengthen the research output of the whole teaching team on this specific issue, in order to understand better the role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable social, environmental and economic value.
