Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Currently, the Fauclty has well defined formal platform that encourages the social responsibility initiatives. In its general strategy, Faculty indicates the values of social responsibility, ethics and sustainability being a guiding principles of its strategic posture.
Also, Faculty has started implementing the concept of Service learning. Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy where students are empowered to tackle specific problems that will advance well-being of the community. Currently, the Faculty and its students have been collaborating in two "Service learning" projects that are funded from the EU sources and also has joined consortia for additional 5 projects that are aiming for financing through European Social Fund.
Most recently, the Faculty has started a curriculum reform where it plans to integrate the topics of corporate responsibility, sustainability and ethics in its study programmes. By doing this we will stress that such values should be integrative horizontal competencies which future managers and business leaders should possess.
Most recently, the Faculty is in the process of adopting the Corporate Responsibility Policy where it has defined all the activities that are directly tied to its socially-responsible behavior.
To sum up, besides teaching, Faculty has envisioned to position itself as an institution that more directly addresses the topics of corporate social responsibility and sustainbility in its research program and lifelong learning & executive education programmes.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The Faculty has always had strong ties with business community and entrepreneurship.
Faculty of Economics has always been deeply involved in the economy of the region. In this regard, the Faculty has been transferring knowledge and expertise to companies and SMEs in the region through consulting services and projects. Besides collaboration with business sector, the quality of our consultancy work has been recognized by the ministries and public agencies from various sectors. Faculty has also been providing an expertise for local and regional municipalities and international institutions and NGOs.
In 2016., Faculty Council has adopted the Rule book on Student’s internship programme. Student internship programme represents an elective course in the third year of bachelor degree programme and the second year of master degree programme, and carries 6 ECTS. The student internship is directly related to the study programmes as it enables students to acquire practical skills by applying acquired theoretical knowledge. Student internship programme is carried out within the partner organization (i.e., company, public institution of regional/local government or non-profit organization) with which the Faculty has signed an agreement. During the internship, students are monitored and evaluated by two mentors, one from the host organization and the one from the Faculty. Currently, there are 29 students from Bachelor programme in Business Studies and 60 students from Master programme in Business studies enroled in Student’s internship programme. Some of the notable company partners include Cemex, Uber, La Meridien Grand Hotel Lav, Radisson Blu Hotel Split, Raiffeisen Bank Austria, AD Plastik, Societe Generale Splitska Banka among many others.
Our future plans are to:
- offer specific consulting services to companies in the areas of business ethics, sustainability and corporate social responsibility
- to extend the list of partners for our Student Internship Programme with different NGOs within whcih students can actively engage in service learning
