Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Establishing a Faculty Research Centre, to include research projects, research studentships, and knowledge exchange in the areas of corporate resonsibility and sustainability. Already established enterprise network to foster knowledge exchange with companies and public sector organisations. Hosted a number of research and knowledge exchange events within the past year (see below).

18 March 2008
Climate Change - Finding Solutions. A one day conference jointly hosted by European Law Monitor - Europe Direct, the University of Winchester and the European Commission Representation in the UK. The theme of the event was 'Business will lead the search for solutions to climate change'. The conference intended to help businesses that want to develop products and technologies to help in the reduction of carbon emissions. www.europeanlawmonitor.org/conferences

Jonathan Porritt lecture on "Sustainable Living"
Leading environmentalist Jonathon Porritt CBE, Co-Founder of Forum for the Future and Chairman of the UK Sustainable Development Commission, appeared at the University of Winchester on 9 October 2007.
The lecture Low-carbon, Sustainable Living: Just How Hard Will It Be? highlighted the increasing environmental crisis and current recognition that something must be done to provide a sustainable future. Jonathon Porritt explored the difficulties politicians and the Civil Service face in moving from more traditional, short-term goals to a more long-term vision.

Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC) is located in our Research and Knowledge Exchange offices. WinACC was formed in autumn 2007 as a coalition of organisations and citizens seeking to engage every household and every organisation in Winchester district in meeting the challenge of climate change and realising the benefits of low carbon living.
