Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The Secal College has the guideline of social and environmental responsibility, working the contents in the curriculum byoffering subjects, extension activities and social programs that aimsto formtheacademic for citizenship. Forenhancethese principles it was established in the academic curriculum some events as the Environment Week, Citizen Week and the Week of African Conscious - History and Art in order topromote discussions about preserving natural and cultural diversity. The pedagogical practice of this events consists of academic debates, lectures, workshops and partnerships with businesses and industries of the region.
Besides, the connectionbetween education and extension has been consolidated overtime in the courses.The Reading Project in penitentiary develops literacy activities for closed regime prisoners, as well as the Project JOCUM of Pedagogy course that works withreading for young missionaries; the Declaration Project of Accounting course guides the community about the income tax; the Law course participates in the program "Justice in the Neighborhood" in order to provide free legal services to poor community; and the project Books to Listen, which journalism and letters academicsuse the radio to spread literary works to the visually impairment. Recently the IESsigned partnership with the Association of Parents and Friends of the Visually Impairment(APADEVI) aiming guidance in order to offerappropriate servicesaccording the needs of visual impairment academic.The inclusion is another point of evident practice of social responsibility and it is treated with relevance for the academic community.
There are academics with visually impairmentin the Secaland the collegeoffer accessibility by adapting physical spaces,providing equipment such as computers and specific programs. The exercise of citizenship is accomplished since the entry of students into college through the Solidarity Hazing that benefitsCharitieswith donation of food and clothing, structural repairs in the assisted places or recreational activities.
The Secal Social Project serves the local community on holidays (Christmas, Easter and Children's Day) collecting and donatingstaple foods and candies. In these events there are lectures, snacks and other activities in accordance with the visited institution. The welfareprojects are gateways to the collegeexecute otherprojects inside these communities.Since 2009 the Secal College adopted the community of Rio Verde, an institution where there are more than 100 families registered. Teachers and academics develop regular activities in the community such as recreation, theater, educational lectures, courses and other actions accordingto the needs of these families. Besides, Secal has already created a library for the community.
Currently, the Institution aims to integrate curricular activities with the actions of the Social Observatory (a non-governmental organization), becauseit is the opportunity to academic expand his visionabout the public administration and exercises citizenship. All these initiatives work towards education and transformation of reality as mission and institutional values.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Regardingthe connection between teaching and academic research, the college annually promotes the Meeting of Scientific Initiation Secal (EICS) and Weeks of Scientific Initiation in all its courses.The topics of sustainability and social responsibility are frequent in the academics works. For example, it was from a scientific research conducted by a academic of pedagogy that Secal implemented a reading software for visually impairment, allowing the inclusion of these students in higher education.
To expand the participation of the academic community in research projects, the College created study groups in order to discuss current issues and stimulate creative activities of scientific knowledge.
Next semester the program Scientific Initiation will be executedby the monitoring program with financial support institutional (partial scholarships). Each study group will have a scholarship monitor and it will increase the number of teachers with full-time basis in the institution.Thisyear there was a new boost in the area of research, because the institution has established partnerships in national and international scientific events. The extension project “Speaking of Family” offers workshops for needy families who are in a judicial process. Besides, law academics work with mediation techniques for conciliation hearings. And next semester the college will set up a group of studies on human diversityin all graduation courses.
