Period Covered: Jan 2014 to Dec 2015
Our first report on sustainable development is based on university related Global Reporting Initiative indicators combined with outcomes of the universities efforts to sustainable development with focus on teaching, research and campus projects related to the UN PRME principles.
Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Amberg-Weiden offers undergraduate programs in Renewable Energies und Environmental Engineering (Bachelor programes). Furthermore, the graduate program Environmental Engineering presents the possibility for a specific qualification.
Representing the entire university of applied science, the OTH Amberg-Weiden founded a “Pact for Ethics und Sustainable Development” in 2010 (Bündnis für Ethik und Nachhaltigkeit). Looking at the terms of curriculum integration and program design the pact aims at the implementation of courses and units of corporate responsibility, sustainability and applied ethics in the undergraduate programs of Applied Computer Sciences, Business Management, Retail and Service Management as well as in the study of Language, Management and Technology.
According to the PRME we are planning to integrate similar units and seminaries in curricula of the four faculties of the OTH Amberg-Weiden.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Coordinated by the Institute for Sustainability and directed by the executive board of the OTH Amberg-Weiden singular research programs have been created: „Business Excellence, Governance and Process Management: Translate international guidelines on social and environmental responsibility into practice“ or „Acceptance of renewable energies in the Northern Bavaria (Upper Palatinate) und in Western Bohemia“. The OTH Amberg-Weiden is going to record and systemize the research initiatives in connection with the subject of corporate responsibility and sustainability.
Afterwards we are planning to develop a university-wide framework for corporate responsibility and sustainability. This process should be organized as cooperation with our four faculties and partners of the DACH-Chapter of PRME. Moreover the „Commitment to Sustainable Practices of Higher Education Institutions“ will give a supplementary orientation for this working process.
