Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
For our students:
Our Faculty of Business has already embarked upon reviewing our curriculum at all levels and embedding CSR and ethics within it and having dedicated assessments around this area. Outside the curriculum, the Faculty has developed a community service initiative known as FB CARES, which encourages student participation in community projects around the area of social responsibility, sustainability and ethics. We have also recently joined the Clinton Global Initiative University, encouraging the development of student-initiated and led projects on these areas.
For the industry and professional community:
Faculty of Business has established the new Sustainability Management Research Centre (SMRC) to promote business sustainability through conducting innovative research on sustainability management and transferring the knowledge generated to both the academic and business communities. Through the SMRC we launched the Hong Kong Small Medium Enterprises Business Sustainability Index with the Hong Kong Productivity Council to promote the understanding and adoption of CSR as a business model for achieving business sustainability in Hong Kong. Several researchers in the Faculty have conducted low carbon logistics projects for Small Medium Enterprises.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Through the SMRC, several key research areas have been established including:
▫ Sustainability Strategy, Management and Performance
▫ Green Transformation of Manufacturers
▫ Social Enterprises
▫ Business Sustainability and Financial Performance
These research areas comprise multidisciplinary collaborations. The Centre will also continue with the annual Hong Kong Small Medium Enterprises Business Sustainability Index. We have received invitations to expand the index to cover listed companies on the Hong Kong stock exchange. Through this centre we will continue to organise executive training on business sustainability and CSR for the business community.
Furthermore, we are planning a specialized Masters programme on sustainability management due to popular demand and our niche in ability to provide a mutli-disciplinary offering.
