Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Since 2003, the University of Leicester School of Management has been attempting to develop its teaching and curriculum towards general issues of social responsibility. Our strategy involves the development of publications and modules in the broad area of social issues in management. This includes, but is not limited to, work on corporate social responsibility and business ethics, but also encompasses work on critical finance and accounting, critical marketing and interdisciplinary work on management, business and organization. We have full time and distance learning modules on CSR and Business Ethics, but are also attempting to embed these and other issues into our entire curriculum, both full time and distance learning.
In addition to these programme provisions, we now offer destintive pathways in Corportate Social Responsibilty and Ethics as well as in Sustainability (in cross-university corporation with other departments such as Geography).

Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Our academic profile in the area of corporate social responsibility is respectable, with three members of staff having direct interests in this area, and several authored and edited books, as well as journal articles being produced. However, since our research strategy attempts to develop work of a critical and heterodox nature across the board, social issues in management topics can be found across our research. For example, our marketing research group has interests in the area of consumption and supply chains; our finance and accounting group has publications on corruption, political elites, micro-finance, and resistance to neo-liberal globalization; and our organization and management research includes a variety of topics in the areas of alternative organization, and new theories of organizational governance.
