LSB PRME SIP 2009-2010 Academic Year - View Report

The PRME SIP report for the Elon University's Martha and Spencer Love School of Business (LSB) describes activities completed during the 2009 - 2010 AY under each of the PRME principles. Students won ethics competitions and worked with companies that won ethics awards. Faculty added responsible business leadership components to their classes and expanded their research on ethics, sustainability, and responsible business leadership.

Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Achievements Learning:
- Recently approved new vision, mission, and values for business school that include focus on transformative business education including responsible business education (i.e., sustainability and corporate responsibility)
- In process of revising undergraduate core curriculum to strengthen existing focus on responsible business practices
- Developing sustainability track in management department's undergraduate degree
- Sustainability and corporate responsibility are strong parts of university culture at Elon and in the business school including a sustainability faculty scholars program in which one of the business school faculty members is participating
- Co-hosted Fair Trade Symposium last year and co-hosting Dialogue on Morality and Business this year
- Considering executive education programs focused on these topics as more faculty develop expertise

Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Achievements Research:
- A number of our faculty conduct research on ethics practices
- One faculty member regularly conducts research on the topic of sustainability
- One faculty member is conducting research on corporate social responsibility
- Additional opportunities for this research and knowledge development will be built into the five-year strategic plan currently under development
