The report documents the initiatives and assessment of efforts by the Department of Management of the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse (USA) to implement PRME principles during the 2014-2016 period.
Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The department currently offers classes in business and human rights and a class called Changing Environment of Organizations which is largely focused on CSR and Sustainability.
The Department's new curriculum will address CSR throughout the curriculum. A course at the MBA level deals with ethics and social responsibility.
Th Department participates in a University Joint Committee on Sustainability. The commitee was succesfull in getting the Chancellor to sign the Talloires Agreement and is working on the President's Climate Commitment.
The Department has also signed on to the Global Compact
There are excellent relationships with sustainability coordinators at businesses in the community and the University provides outreach in the area of social responsibility.
Classes take into account the context of the Global Compact and PRME and students are exposed to the Principles. The Joint committee is working with community organizations and school districts on issues of sustainability education
A number of faculty in the department publish in journals focused on sustainability and on Corporate Social Responsibility.
Our new curriculum will include CSR and sustainability in all core classes.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The department has focused on CSR and sustainability as major research initiatives. Faculty have published in major journals in these fields and have presented research at major conferences including the Humboldt University CSR Conference recently in Berlin. A member of the faculty attended the recent Global Compact Forum in Boston. The Small Business Development Center provides outreach to the business community as does the Continuing Education Program.
There are also outreach executive development programs offered.
