Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The College is a Joint Venture between nine UK universities and a Chinese university. The programmes offered by SBC provide pathways to all the UK partners and, in the case of three of the nine partners, allow students to study entirely in Shanghai and obtain a UK degree. Of the nine UK partners, eight are signatories to PRME. In this way, the curriculum already reflects a collective commitment to PRME but this is, and will be further, reinforced by use of case studies in teaching and co-curricula activity involving community-related work. With regards to the latter, SBC has also subscribed to the Greenleaf Online Library and Sustainable Organisation Library and these resources, supplementing existing resources, will be invaluable in highlighting PRME-related issues in the curriculum and facilitating research.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The College is to introduce an academic annual conference, with the inaugural one coinciding with the 10th anniversary celebration and for which PRME endorsement, including use of the logo, is requested. There is a considerable opportunity to undertake research on PRME and their application in China and, in doing so, to facilitate comparative and collaborative research, not least with UK PRME participants and colleagues in the Asia Forum and East Asian Chapter. In addition, for all future academic appointment, the College will be exploring candidates’ commitment, and research and scholarly activity relating to, PRME and related issues. SBC has also recently formulated its 10 year Vision, Vision 2025, and central to which is a commitment to responsible leadership and hence this request to join PRME. The College is also an active participant in the CSR interest group of the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai and being a signatory to PRME will add further impetus to its involvement in such networks.
