Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

A pilot project has been completed in two undergraduate business degrees and one postgraduate degree. This project mapped 10-15 subjects in each degree against 51 criteria related to sustainability and CSR. This involved checking each unit guide (syllabus) and interviewing 31 lecturers in charge of each subject then mapping the curriculum and learning skills to each criterion. This mapping process helped each lecturer to identify possible improvements to the course and particular themes or skills that are missing from the 3 degrees. There has also be significant attention to ethical and social responsibility in our faculty’s new capstone units to ensure that all students are aware of responsible practices in their discipline before they graduate. This degree-level mapping also supports the university-wide graduate capability mapping which include two social capabilities: “(1) Engaged and ethical local and global citizens; and (2) socially and environmentally active and responsible”. Future projects will identify gaps across our other degree programs and will introduce new curriculum and experiential learning activities to redress the gaps.
