Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Ethics, responsibility and sustainability are visible at different levels of the School's activities:
-All degree programs integrate the Learning Goal "to act as a socially responsible, internationally minded manager" in order to contribute to the development of students social awareness. Each program offers at least one course module in line with this Learning Goal. For example, Business Ethics and Corporate Governance are mandatory final year core courses of the Grande Ecole Program.
-All Grande Ecole students must spend a total of 80 hours on social and community initiatives within local or national associations in order to become aware of the society in which they live and to contribute to community life. These initiatives may take the form of studying discriminatory behavior in the workplace, providing remedial lessons for children of people of travel communities, supervising asylum seekers or disabled children ("Learning by Carrying out Community Initiatives" modules ("Pédagogie par l'Action Citoyenne", PAC).
-Students have the possibility to get involved in student associations. 4 student associations focus on CSR and SD issues.
-The School created in 2009 the "Mission Handicap" which aims at accompanying disabled students during their studies as BSB, to raise awareness on disabilities issues and to encourage more disabled students to decide to continue their studies and to integrate BSB or other schools.
-Further to State grants, different mechanisms are in place to enhance access to BSB's degree programs (school scholarships, apprenticeship track, student loans, company scholarships, and financial arrangements offered to students in case of major financial difficulties.)
-To evaluate the proportion of CSR-related teaching within each degree program.
-To define the expectations for each degree program in terms of CSR-related teaching.
-To involve students directly in CSR-related project such as Sustainable Development Week or CSR-related project (waste management) in order to raise their awareness and have them as ambassadors for all students.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
-In compliance with its willingness to educate responsible managers, both citizens of the world and aware of the ethical stakes in their jobs, BSB has developed 4 Research Chairs related to CSR and SD: Corporate Social Responsibility (in 2006), Microfinance (in 2009), Corporate Governance (in 2010), Management and Responsible Innovations (in 2012).
-In line with BSB's conviction that the results in management research have to be more widely disseminated (than within the academic community) and that professors can contribute to Society's debates, a policy aiming at publishing op-eds in the press has been developed. In four years, more than 100 op-eds have been published in the national press (printed or Internet edition of journals such Le Monde, Les Echos, Huffington Post, etc.). Many of these are CSR-related.
-In line with AACSB expectations, BSB will launch a working group in order to measure the impact of its activities to various stakeholder. This will involve the impact of research activities (be it Research Chairs or academic research done by individual faculty) to the companies and the community, including our CSR-related research activities.
