This is York St John Business School's first SIP report and details the work we have undertaken over the course of the past 24 months to embed the PRME principles into all aspects of our work.
Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The Business School has achieved considerable growth in student numbers, both home and international, with further growth forecast in future years. Such success can be largely attributed to the University’s growing reputation, not least, its emphasis on an excellent student experience. The Business School plays a critical role in the overall University’s strategic activities, which focus on quality, resilience, growth and community. With a diverse undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio of programmes, the School aims to provide students with a holistic understanding of business and its role in contemporary society, emphasising the importance of responsible leadership. The newly appointed Dean and Associate Dean are very committed to the corporate responsibility and sustainability agendas and will ensure that the PRiME values are at the forefront of curricula design, pedagogy, research, business engagement and learning conversations. The postgraduate portfolio is currently being reviewed and will include new pedagogic approaches that reflect the PRiME values and demonstrate the importance of business and society, and of course, responsible and transformational management education.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
Fundamental to the School’s ethos is how we envision working closely with the business communities we serve in the private, public and third sectors; locally, nationally and increasingly on an international basis. Maximising our expertise in coaching, strategic HRM and applied linguistics, our business engagement strategy is designed to provide events, learning interventions and consultancy, knowledge transfer and applied research within and for organisations and communities that is predicated on transformational management and leadership development for challenging times. We recognise that modern leaders and managers need to be supported to act sensitively, ethically and holistically in ways that are business-relevant and sustainable. We believe this approach will enable us to introduce a modern focus and help to shape the way businesses operate and interact with wider society.
