Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
The Department of Economics and Management at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has recently revised its strategy and profile which now also contains a commitment to observing the principles of sustainability and upholding responsibility towards the environment and society, across all activities and projects carried out by researchers, lecturers and staff.
Within this context, efforts are currently being made to establish ethics as a compulsory optional subject including a Master-Course-Module on Economic and Business Ethics. This is developed in close cooperation with the Institute of Philosophy and the Center of Economic and Technology Ethics (ZTWE) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the KIT.
Besides these activities there are already a couple of existing courses and lectures which deal with issues of environmental economics, sustainability, professionalism and ethics as well as corporate social responsibility. This includes for example courses/lectures offered at the Institute of Macroeconomics, at the Institute of Corporate Management, at the Chair of Sustainable Management of Housing and Real Estate as well as the lecture series of the newly established Professorship on Property Valuation and Sustainability.
