Achievements Curriculum Integration in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
CSR has been on the curriculum at Sheffield at undergraduate level, for the last 10 years, and at Masters level for the last 5 years. In addition, several other modules have social issues embedded within them.
As programmes have evolved over the last few years, so issues of CR and Sustainable Development have bee integrated across the curriculum in both accounting and management, and across all years of study.
To move the agenda forward, we have established a ‘Sustainable Development Subject Group’ and a ‘Sustainable Development Champion’ within the school. We are planning to run seminars in the city to engage with business, and plan running further courses to engage with businesses in the area.
A ‘needs and capabilities audit’ will be conducted to:
• Establish the extent and coverage of CR/SD issues across the curriculum
• Understand the potential for development in the CR/SD area
• Explore the potential to engage all faculty members with these issues.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
We are fortunate in having a reasonably well established research group who undertake projects in the CR/SD area. We aim to give impetus to this group in the next year with a new research project which will look at aspects of regulation and how it may act as either an impediment or facilitator of SD, by engaging with companies at both local and national level.
Plans for further engagement will be developed in the coming year, with a programme of seminars already in the planning process.
