Aalto University School of Economics reports on the progress on PRME for the first time. We have developed our curriculum with a new course “How to change the world” and decided to introduce a new mandatory CR course to almost all Master’s degree students. A totally new Master’s degree program on Creative Sustainability will start in the autumn 2010. The research group on Corporate Responsibility was awarded during 2009 for active participation in public dialogue and for high quality research.

Aalto School of Economics offers a number of teaching modules in the area of Corporate Responsibility
Minor subject “Corporate environmental and social responsibility” (24 units, 4 courses) which can be chosen among 7 alternatives on different disciplines within economics and business administration, since 1993.
Mandatory module on Business ethics and business law for all first year students.
10-15 Masters thesis on corporate responsibility and sustainability annually.
Corporate Responsibility offered as a module in MBA-programs within Aalto Executive Education.
A Finnish language text book on Environment and business by scientists of the school published in 2004. It is still broadly used in different universities and Polytechnics in Finland.
Achievements Research Development in the Field of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
TThe Aalto School of Economics has a cross-disciplinary corporate social and environmental responsibility research group (www.hse.fi/responsibility). It was established in 1993 and has about 15 members currently. The group conducts a several externally funded research projects on a continuous basis. Its member publish in scholarly papers in scientific journal (publications can be found via the above website) and gives presentations in several scientific and practitioner arenas. Many research projects are done in cooperation with companies, which means that the empirical basis of the research is sound and current, and that the diffusion of knowledge created in the group is diffused into the corporate sector.
