PRME renews partnership with UNESCO Global Action Platform (GAP)

1 November 2017 | New York, USA – The Principles for Responsible Management Education is proud to announce that it is renewing its Partner Membership status with the UNESCO Global Action Programme (GAP) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The GAP was launched by UNESCO in 2014 with the mission to “generate and scale up action in all levels and areas of education and learning to accelerate progress towards sustainable development”. Since its launch, GAP has contributed to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within educational contexts, notably through its Partner Networks and its Priority Action Areas.

We are excited to continue working with GAP in championing Education for Sustainable Development. PRME has a strong overlap with GAP’s goals, as we are an initiative that works with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to effect responsible education through teaching, research, and thought leadership. PRME head Jonas Haertle was present for the 2014 launch of GAP in Paris, where he also helped GAP establish a Working Group on Whole Institution Learning. In support of GAP’s vision of giving Education for Sustainable Development a global presence, PRME works with over 650 member schools from all over the world. Additionally, PRME’s 2017 Global Forum was an opportunity to advance and advocate for ESD and the implementation of the SDGs, both within our signatories and our own operations.

Says Jonas Haertle on renewing this Partnership, “GAP represents a great opportunity for PRME to augment its work advocating for Responsible Management Education and ESD in Higher Education. We look forward to continued collaboration towards our common goals.”
