Academic Symposium: Leadership for Climate Change and Sustainability

La Trobe University 28 February 2011

The La Trobe Institute for Social and Environmental Sustainability invites you to an Academic Symposium in partnership with the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) and Emerald. The Symposium will bring together work from a range of disciplines to:
• promote multi-disciplinary perspectives to developing practical and policy solutions to improving social and environmental sustainability; and,
• consider the role leadership and innovation play in addressing the long term viability of the economy, social order and the environment.
It will consider how responsible leaders can effect change and manage social and environmental impacts (including, for example, human rights, workplace well-being, carbon emissions, natural resource consumption, waste management, corruption) in private, public sector and non-governmental organisations and societies. Papers may use any approach to identify ways in which leaders can reduce the negative social and environmental impacts of organisations and facilitate climate change adaptation.

Confirmed speakers include:
Professor Carol Adams, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability), La Trobe University
Professor Kate Auty, Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability, State of Victoria
Professor Derick De Jongh, Director, Centre for Responsible Leadership, University of Pretoria
Professor Malcolm McIntosh, Director, Asia Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise, Griffith University Professor Pierre Tappie, Dean, ESSEC, France and Chair of the Board of GRLI Professor Philippe de Woot, GRLI Special Advisor, Belgium
