(Cairo, 15 September 2015) – Over one hundred participants from 11 countries (Bulgaria, Brazil, Egypt, France, Latvia, Pakistan, Peru, Serbia, Sudan, Switzerland and USA) gathered for the 2nd Responsible Management Education (RME) Research Conference, held at the American University in Cairo, in Egypt on 7-8 September 2015.
Presenters shared insights on the Conference theme of Inclusive Business, as a dynamic and growing field of business practice that is changing the development solution matrix for institutions, and actors working towards poverty alleviation, equitable development and inclusive growth. Inclusive businesses transcend the conventional CSR model by advancing profitable supply and value chain partnerships with the poor, and socially responsible interventions. This sustainable framework for poverty alleviation and empowerment of the poor at the base of the pyramid (BoP) also related to the post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda, and drew out discussion on ongoing activity of the PRME community and HEIs related to the newly launched Sustainable Development Goals.
The 3rd RME Research Conference was officially announced and will be held in Krems, Austria, in 2016. The inaugural RME Research Conference was held in 2014 at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur, in Switzerland.
